DESCRIPTION

Frequently the input and/or output signals of many computer peripheral boards must be electronically isolated, scaled or conditioned in some way before the device can be used in any practical real-world application. In addition, many board manufactures use IDC type connectors which require adding a screw-terminal block for transition to field wiring.

The UTB-1 has been designed to address both of these issues in one easy-to-apply product. A generous solder-pad prototyping area (360+ 0.036" dia. holes on 0.1" centers) allows the user to construct intermediate circuitry. Various combinations of IDC headers can be installed using the assigned dual row of pads. A 16-position removable terminal block accepts field wire sizes between 22-12AWG. The screws are touch-safe but may be easily probed during field testing.

Through holes and wire access provided to accommodate user-supplied IDC headers up to 80 positions (2 x 40). Any combination of smaller IDC headers can be installed side-by-side provided the overall 80 positions limit is not exceeded. Through holes and wire access provided for one DB connector up to 25 positions.
